Dr. Whitney and Dr. Kerri show off their new PCOS tea at the Bridal Show.

We had a fun time at the Timpano Bridal show this past weekend meeting lots of brides, moms and even some future husbands! We thought it might be a unique way to reach out to women to let them know that we are experts in fertility and offer natural solutions to improving PMS, irregular cycles and fertility. We polled the women and found out some interesting statistics about when they want to start trying to conceive.

Of the ones who said YES they are planning on starting a family:

  • 23% said they have already started
  • 12% want a honeymoon baby
  • 23% said they plan to start trying 6-12 months after the wedding
  • 42% were other – 1-2 years after the wedding or unsure

Infertility – How men can support their partners through communicating, getting involved and making dinner!

January 22, 2014 By //  by Whitney Young, ND

OK Men, this one’s for you

Communicate Openly

This is a very emotional and stressful time for you both. There is no right or wrong way to feel. Discuss openly how you are both feeling and recognize there are going to be differences. Find out what you both need during this time and help to meet those needs.  Counselling can make a big difference here so that you can both express yourselves and have someone to help sift through it all.  You can be the one to suggest that the two of you see someone.

Make your swimmers stronger

Even if you haven’t started any infertility treatment there are things you can do to help improve your sperm quality. By showing that you are actively involved to improve your chances of conception, your partner will feel less alone during the process. Some things that may reduce sperm number or quality include:

  • Alcohol
  • Drugs (even just marijuana)
  • Smoking
  • Environmental toxins like pesticides and chemicals

Stress management

An increasing amount of research is showing that high amounts of stress get in the way of successful conception. One study in particular found that women with the highest amount of stress, produced 20% fewer follicles. So, as her partner you can help to reduce stress by helping to figure out her triggers, minimize them and work on coping strategies together.  This can be simple things like making dinner a few nights a week (without being asked), taking care of the dishes, or planning a weekend or evening away.  Ask her what would make the difference for her.

Fertility awareness tracking

Some partners get very involved in helping to track the woman’s cycle. They are helpful to remind her to take her temperature and pack the thermometer if going away for the weekend. They also help look at the charts after a cycle or two to help her figure out what’s going on.  Again, this isn’t her problem, it’s yours too.  Be involved in the process.

Not sure where to start?  Book your assessment and let us help.

With you things are a whole lot better.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I'm missing my husband right now. Trapped on either side of a closed border isn't what we imagined for our marriage. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But here we are.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We know that a lot of you are dealing with situations that are making you unhappy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Give yourself extra care right now. Sleep more. Eat warm foods that nourish your body. Rest. Give yourself a break. This is hard. But we're doing it.
Strength People used to tell me I was so strong. Strength

People used to tell me I was so strong.

But to me it was just getting up and putting one foot in front of another.

I did it for my kids. And I also did it for that tiny flicker of hope that was inside. That hope that things would one day be different and I would feel better.

Lately I’ve been needing that strength again.

These uncertain times. The unpredictable nature of our everyday lives has been taking a toll on my mental health again.

Again I need to turn to that tiny flicker of hope. That one day things will be different.

You are stronger than you think. You are.

Choose a fun way or container to serve the food.

Here we did a tea party for lunch on my grandmothers china.

When they were younger I would use ice cube trays and put little nibbles of food in each hole.

What about a picnic on the floor?

How about eating breakfast for dinner?

What about a bowl sandwich? All the good stuff without the bread?

Sometimes switching up the environment or what they are eating on can help.

Save this for later to remind yourself to switch things up. 😊

I’m feeling such gratitude right now. I’m so l I’m feeling such gratitude right now. I’m so lucky I love what I do. I’m so fortunate to have amazing women trust me with their fertility, their health, and then their baby’s health.

During this past year of fear and uncertainty, many people have turned to gratitude practices to cope.

🙏🏻

Research shows that when we express gratitude, our brains release dopamine and serotonin - happy hormones.

🙏🏻

Other studies have shown that people who have regular gratitude practices are healthier, happier, and have better relationships.

🙏🏻

Why not add this to your morning or evening routine? Write down 3 different things you are grateful for. And if you want more support for your mental health, I’m here for you. I’ve got many natural tools in my toolbox to help.

I’m here for you.

I polled my mom tribe (link in bio if you want to I polled my mom tribe (link in bio if you want to join us on Facebook), and asked them what they want more of in 2021.

These moms want more health, laughter, love, and money. But most of all, they want more joy.

This past year saw a rise in more mental health issues. 50% of Canadians reported their mental health worsened. 1 in 10 said it had worsened "a lot" because of Covid-19.

So, of course you want more joy.

How are we going to get it?

I'd like you to find 10 minutes in your day. 10 little minutes to plug into your joy. Your first day you can write down the things that used to bring you joy or that currently do. The next day you can try one of those things.

What little thing can you do tomorrow that will bring you a little joy?
