Is IV therapy right for me?

October 23, 2013 By //  by Whitney Young, ND

Kerri and I shot our second video with Carole from Sugar Productions this past Friday. We focused on IV therapy and had a room full of great people getting their IVs. The video isn’t ready yet but I wanted to share our sample script to show you all the ways we can help with IV therapy.

Intravenous Vitamin Therapy is an incredible option for our patients. IV therapy truly heals the body at the cellular level so we can get our patients feeling better faster while our other regular treatments start to work.

We bathe the cells in nutrients by bypassing the digestive system where we can lose some of that absorption. We can also get much higher doses of the vitamins in without causing all of the gastric upset.

The number of treatments you will need depends on your condition and how nutrient deficient you are. We will discuss your case during your appointment time prior to starting IV therapy.

IV therapy works exceptionally well for acute conditions like:

  • Headaches & Migraines
  • Cramps – either menstrual or muscle
  • Colds & flus
  • Post surgery wound healing.

It also works really well for things like

  • adrenal fatigue,
  • anxiety,
  • seasonal allergies

Many chronic diseases can also benefit:

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Crohn’s & Collitis
  • Cancer
  • High blood pressure
  • Eating disorders
  • Asthma
  • Seasonal Allergies

Generally, almost every one can benefit from IV therapy. It is a rapid delivery of nutrients, fast acting, helps detoxification and energy. Essentially, IV therapy is a fast and effective way to jump start your body’s own healing mechanisms.

Come in for a free meet the doctor visit to see if IV therapy is right for you…

Testing Adrenal Function

January 9, 2013 By //  by Whitney Young, ND

Adrenal function is hugely related to our energy levels, our quality of sleep and our quality of life in general.  Until now, the only way that I knew how to measure adrenal function was through saliva testing.  While accurate, it is expensive and can take weeks to get results.

But now…we have an in-house lab!

One of the tests available is the Koenisburg Test.  It measures urinary chloride output.  This is an excellent way to get a sense of where adrenal function is at.  Basically this means we can measure how well your body is dealing with your stress.

Stress affects all of my patients.  Some people have a lot of external stressors like work, family obligations and lack of sleep.  Others have more internal stressors like anxiety and worry.  Both kinds of stress affect the body in the same way.

If your adrenal glands are pumping out way too much cortisol, then they are in hyper-functioning mode.

If your adrenal glands are not pumping out much cortisol at all, then they are in hypo-functioning mode.

This distinction is really important as different herbs are needed for hyper-functioning adrenal glands than for hypo-functioning glands.  If you give the herbs for low adrenal function to someone who is still in high adrenal mode, they will feel more agitated and worse than before they took the herbs at all.  If you give someone in low adrenal mode the herbs that a high adrenal function person needs, then they will not see any difference at all.

This is why in-house testing is so lovely.  For $10 we can avoid the experiment and get to the right herbal blend faster.

At our clinic I use acupuncture primarily for hormone regulation, infertility, and during pregnancies.

There are acupuncture points on the body that have traditionally been used to help prepare for labour. In a recent journal review acupuncture was found to be of some benefit in improving cervical maturity. I already knew this and have had lots of success.
