Bad digestion

July 28, 2011 By //  by Whitney Young, ND

Many people I see in my office have digestion problems and these can be rooted anywhere from the top of the digestive tract to the bottom. There are some simple things you can do to digest better.

  • Eat mindfully – take time to eat your meal, don’t eat on the go. Stop, think about what you are eating, thank the earth and the farmers and all the energy that went into bringing your food to your plate.
  • Breathe… when we are stressed and not breathing, our digestion shuts down. Take 5 deep breaths before you start your meal. Take a few more during the meal to improve your digestive juice flow
  • Have organic apple cidar vinegar before your meal. This primes your digestion for you. Take 1/2 tsp in water 10 min before your meal.
